Your Guide to Summer 2021 in Charleston
Charleston is routinely listed as one of the best places to live in the U.S., and it's easy to see why with all of our history, natural beauty, and the buzz of a big city. Summer is in full swing, and that means there is tons to do and we're proud to bring you a list of some activities and events we're looking forward to!
Patriots Point Fireworks Blast 2021
Celebrate the Fourth of July with the most historic warships in the United States, the USS Yorktown, on the Charleston Harbor at Patriots Point!
Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum will host its annual 4th of July Fireworks Blast, but this year the celebration will occur only onshore from 6–10 pm. Admission to the landside event will be free, but parking will cost $20 per vehicle.
Charleston RiverDogs
Summer isn't complete without a ballpark hot dog and a foul ball. Charleston Riverdogs are a class A minor league affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. There are a variety of family-friendly events such as Dog Day, Wicked Wednesday, and Firework Friday. Play ball!
Freshfields Village Starlight Cinema Series
Each Wednesday between June 19 and August 21, guests can bring a blanket, chair, and picnic and enjoy a free family outdoor movie under the stars! Admission is free, and movies will be shown from 8:30–10:30 pm!
Lowcountry Jazz Festival
Capping off the summer of 2021, the Lowcountry Jazz Festival on Labor Day weekend brings the smooth sounds of jazz to Charelsont with their annual two-day event. It's the primary fundraiser for Closing the Gap in Health Care, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose primary mission is decreasing health disparities and increasing health literacy, especially for African Americans and the underserved in our community, South Carolina, and the nation.
Holy City Farmers Market
Every Wednesday during the Summer, Holy City Farmers Market runs from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Holy City Brewery. Vendors rotate weekly to provide shoppers with a tiny but mighty shopping experience. Connect with a small business to shop for handmade goods at the Holy City Farmers Market.
Summerville Sweetest Week Ever & Festival
Summerville is the birthplace of sweet tea and a Hunter Quinn Homes favorite. Locals celebrate with the Sweetest Week Ever and conclude with the Sweet Tea Fest. Throughout the week there are different micro events for art, family activates, live entertainment and shopping/dining specials. Saturday concludes the week with a full celebration of everything sweet tea as the streets fill with vendors and we expand entertainment for the day.
Sunset at Fort Sumter
It is setting sail every Friday, experience a sunset waterside view of the historic architectural gem that has been voted "Top City" in the USA by Conde Nast Traveler, Charleston, SC.
