Vibrant living in North Charleston, SC

Charleston, South Carolina, is one of the most beautiful Southern cities. The metropolitan seaport maintains its charm as a historic city dating back 300 years. As the third largest city in South Carolina, North Charleston shares the name of its southern neighbor, but is an urban area of its own. Since 2000, North Charleston’s population has grown by more than 54%! The vibrant living in North Charleston, SC, continues to attract people to move to this exciting city.

Here are some of the reasons we love living here.

The really great “great outdoors”

Riverfront Park is one of the biggest perks of living in North Charleston. Situated on the former Charleston Naval Base, this sprawling green space features an 800-foot boardwalk along the Cooper River, a fishing pier, playground, walking trails, amphitheater, and dog park. Riverfront Park hosts the annual July 4th fireworks and the National Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition, as well as a long list of festivals.

Wanamaker County Park provides 1,015 acres of woodlands and wetlands, carefully preserved and protected. Throughout the park, however, you’ll find ways to enjoy the natural surroundings, like biking trails, sand volleyball, disc golf, horseshoes, and picnic spaces, as well as playgrounds, splash areas, and dog parks.

You can find your own kind of fun.

The schedule of live performances at North Charleston Coliseum spans musical genres, from country and rock to orchestra. Broadway musicals, stand-up comedy, WWE wrestling, and South Carolina Stingrays hockey games all take place here. Riverfront Park is another great venue for live performances all year long.

Are theme parks your thing? Frankie’s Fun Park is your destination in North Charleston. Thrill-seeking rides, arcade, virtual reality game, a climbing wall, go karts, mini golf, driving range, batting cage, and bumper boats add up to a great time. Whirlin’ Waters Adventure Waterpark presents another place to cool off, with 15 acres of wet and experiences.

North Charleston is a piece of American history.

The North Charleston and American LaFrance Fire Museum is a popular place for history buffs. When you look at trucks and equipment dating back to the mid-1700s and learn the dangers of firefighting, you’ll gain new respect for the people who battle fires!

For a deeper dive into local history, check out The Hunley Project. The H.L. Hunley is a submarine that disappeared in 1864. The sub was found and raised again. Like a time capsule, the ship’s artifacts have been carefully restored.
