The Final Showdown—Rock the Block Episode 6

The final episode of Rock the Block has graced our television screens, and the homes that we fell in love with throughout this incredible third season are officially ready for some lucky individuals to soon call these houses their homes. Before we get to that, however, we want to take one last look back at the final showdown between our four teams.

A look back at episode 6

Drew Scott and Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt (winners of Rock the Block season 2) were our guest judges for this episode and had the lucky job of figuring out which home had the most added value and who would be crowned the champions of season 3.

Starting off with Dave and Jenny, the judges instantly felt the welcoming atmosphere as soon as they stepped into the home. Focused on mixing both vintage and modern pieces in order to make a truly beautiful home that is also expertly functional. The judges couldn’t get enough of the custom woodwork pieces that Dave was able to add throughout the home—effortlessly creating a truly one-of-a-kind environment. Dave and Jenny tied the third floor bonus room to the second floor bedroom into the ultimate kid zone with a spiral slide connecting the two.

Moving on to Lyndsay and Leslie’s home, the bold color choices and intricate Charleston designs wowed the judges as soon as they walked in, and the design choices throughout each room seamlessly worked together to create an overall incredible home. The girls decided to go for a full theater experience in their third floor bonus room—but also gave it the added possibility of turning into a bedroom with a full bathroom and closet. For the second floor bedroom, they decided to add in a cute nursery to officially finish off the home.

One phrase used by the judges to describe Keith and Evan’s home? Jaw-dropping. This duo went full speed ahead with their bold and artistic style choices throughout this season to create a truly beautiful home with a number of intricate wall details that added in even more personality. The main bathroom in the master suite was definitely a showstopper for the judges, and the team’s outdoor space looked like the perfect spot for entertaining. For their third floor bonus room, they decided to create an at-home spa, complete with a full sauna, luxurious bathroom, yoga area and massage table to truly finish off the look. Much like Lyndsay and Leslie, they opted to add in a nursery to their second floor bedroom with a beautiful hand-painted mural to tie it all together.

With each team bringing out all the stops throughout this 6 week competition, it was a tough night for the judges to land on a winner for this season—but it was Egypt and Mike that came out victorious. Simple sophistication perfectly sums the home design as you walk through the front doors. The judges couldn’t help but marvel at how each choice the duo made while renovating the home was based around a completely strategic idea to truly get the most value added—and yet they were able to tie in design elements that made everything effortlessly beautiful. Winners of the living room and exterior challenges—Egypt and Mike proved that they were a force to be reckoned with. For their additional third floor bonus room, they created a room that could easily be turned into a bedroom with a full bathroom and closet available—but they opted to design it as the ultimate media room equipped with the ideal movie night or game night set-up. As for the second floor bedroom, they decorated the space for a nursery, but opened it up just enough for it to be considered an additional ensuite room fit with its own bathroom.

Enhancing the Hunter Quinn style

Being able to watch this season of Rock the Block and see how each of the four homes captured the essence of Charleston charm in new and exciting ways was a truly incredible experience. This week, the teams focused on fun throughout the remaining rooms, and at Hunter Quinn, we know the importance of creating spaces that homeowners can truly feel connected to. Adding a pop of color or a beautiful mural to a room such as a nursery is a great and cost effective way to spruce up any space. Using the added space you get with a bonus room is also a great way to bring out your personal style—so don’t be afraid to try something new.

I've dealt mostly w/ Chad Murdock & Rick Melo through my purchase/moving process. Both of them have been extremely helpful, and are a big part of the reason I wound up choosing Hunter Quinn. I had been in the market for over a year, and my realtor finally recommend this neighborhood as he had some friends that had invested. I'm super happy w/ my decision! Thank you!
