Celebrate! Summer Festivals Around Charleston

Summertime is officially here. How are you going to make the most of it? We’ve been browsing the event calendars and have found some summer festivals around Charleston that sound like fun. From fireworks to fiery food, music to merriment, here are Hunter Quinn Homes’ suggestions for things to do in Charleston over the summer months.

Charleston Carifest, June 21-24, Charleston

Celebrate the Caribbean American heritage with four days of events, including a night of dancing to reggae and soca, a festival in Brittlebank Park, and a Carnival Street Parade. Treat yourself to the sights, sounds, and tastes of this vibrant culture.

Stars and Guitars, July 1, Boone Hall Plantation, Mt. Pleasant

Get tuned up for the 4th of July with this outdoor musical festival, featuring Nashville stars Kip Moore, Russell Dickerson, and Riley Green. Bring a blanket and get ready for finger-stickin’ barbeque and New Country music.

4th of July Festival, Riverfront Park, North Charleston

Head to the park for an afternoon and evening of celebrating America’s liberty. The kids can take part in planned activities while you relax and dine on the fare served from an array of food trucks. Live music starts at 3:30, and the North Charleston Pops take over at 7:45, orchestrating the fireworks display that begins at 9:10.

MegaDock Billfishing Tournament, July 11-14, Charleston City Marina

The 1,530-foot MegaDock once again becomes home base for billfish anglers. Follow the activity from the dock via a live webcam, and see who is the champ for top release points, heaviest meat fish, landy angler, and youth angler.

3rd Annual Charleston Margarita Festival, July 20, Brittlebank Park, Charleston

For three hours, Downtown Charleston becomes “Margaritaville”.Your ticket lets you sample some of the finest concoctions from the city’s best bars and restaurants—like a strawberry jalapeno margarita—in the quest for the best. There’s also no lack of food, music, fun, and other beverages.

Gullah/Geechee Nation International Music & Movement Festival, August 3-5, Charleston

Spend three days exploring and being inspired by the vibrant culture of the Gullah/Geechee Nation—music, dance, food, art, crafts, and folklore. Special events take place around Charleston and one pass gives you admission to every exciting moment.
