New Home Care & Services

At Hunter Quinn, we understand that purchasing a new home is a big investment, which is why we’ve included information below to help you care for your home and extend its life.

  • Keep your 2-10 Year Warranty Program booklet and manufacturers’ warranties together with your mortgage and insurance papers so that you can access your home documents easily. Our 2-10 Year Warranty comes from the country’s best home warranty company, so take advantage of your warranties!
  • caring for your new homeReplacing air conditioning filters every month keeps your unit working as efficiently as possible.
  • Repaint exterior wooden materials (such as door frames) as needed. As this paint starts to peel, moisture can seep in and cause wood to rot.
  • If you notice water stains on any walls or ceilings, be sure to get these checked out as soon as possible.
  • Most home inspectors recommend testing your smoke alarm weekly to make sure they’re working properly. They also recommend replacing batteries every six months.
  • home care maintenanceTrimming trees and bushes that come into contact with your home helps prevent damage to your roof and exterior siding.
  • Examine the HVAC unit located outside your home, and look for leaks, corrosion, and damage to the insulation.
  • If caulking or grout work around your sinks, showers, or bath tubs wears away, be sure to get this replaced in order to prevent leaks.
  • Have a licensed HVAC contractor conduct an annual inspection to make sure your unit is running properly and efficiently.
  • On a monthly basis, check the temperature pressure release valve on your water heater. Most manufacturers recommend draining your water heater periodically to reduce sediment that can build up inside the tank.
  • cleaning gutters on a homeTwice a year, examine (and if needed) clean gutters and downspouts. As with any of the items in this list, if you don’t feel comfortable doing this yourself, hire a professional to do the work for you!
  • Twice yearly, walk around your home to look for torn or missing shingles on the roof since these damages can cause leaks.
  • Once a year, vacuum out dryer hoses. When lint accumulates over time, it can become a fire hazard.
  • Since we also get questions about maintaining lawns, here’s a great resource for lawn care.
